Changes at Environs Wholesale Nursery – Tim Holmes
October 5th, 2012, marked the dawn of a new era at Environs Wholesale Nursery, as it was this day that the business ownership changed hands. Bob Everest who had successfully ran Environs for over 35 years decided to retire and sold the business to my business partner, Carey Grierson and myself. Bob is excited about retirement and is spending the winter in Arizona coming back in the spring to further help us in
our “continuing education.”
As “newbies” to the nursery business, Carey and I are excited about learning the business and getting to know some new people in the process. In the weeks since the business changed hands, we have had the opportunity to meet many of our customers and our suppliers all of whom have been verywelcoming
and very supportive.
I come from a background that includes 13 years in the transportation and logistics industry followed by 7 years running my own business with Carey in the poultry processing industry. I have spent the last two years running my own management consulting business where I work with many small and mid-size businesses in the areas of strategic planning and succession planning.
Carey has spent many years working in private industry building the poultry business from its humble beginnings. With over thirty years of operations experience Carey is looking forward to the opportunity to learn a new business and looking for ways to improve.
While there have been many things that have changed at Environs, many things remain the same; we are committed to continuing to deliver quality plant material and unsurpassed customer service. We are also fortunate to have Pat Arnott – a familiar face to many of our customers and suppliers - stay on in his role as General Manager. Pat has been with Environs for 22 years now and has a wealth of knowledge about the industry and our customers and is looking forward to continuing those relationships.
And so we begin 2013…
